In 1998, Billy Harris first walked down Bulldog Drive and began a career that has labeled him as one completely dedicated to success in Smyrna. Over a 28-year span, the East Tennessee native served as teacher, coach, administrator, and athletic director at Smyrna High School. For over two decades, Harris was an integral part in Bulldog athletics as assistant principal and athletic director. Under his watch, Smyrna secured team state championships on eight occasions while numerous other squads finished as runner-up. Facility improvements and athletic prowess were perpetuated through his guiding hand while proudly wearing the purple and gold. In 2018, Harris spearheaded the creation of the Smyrna High Athletic Hall Of Fame and acted as chairperson until his retirement in the Spring of 2026. For his tireless efforts toward Bulldog athletics during his tenure, Billy Harris is recognized as a great contributor at Smyrna High.

As a donor to school wide athletic programs, Dow Smith and Dow Smith Construction has been a positive force for Bulldog athletics for decades. Donating both time and money over the years, his list of contributions is quite lengthy. As a major force in the construction of football’s state of the art fieldhouse and weightroom, Dow Smith has ensured the Bulldog facilities are second to none. Choosing to spend his Friday nights operating the end zone camera system and acting as support staff for the football program, Smith has become a fixture on the Smyrna sidelines. Monetary support for other programs such as baseball and swimming have allowed for facility improvements for those sports as well. Acting as a mentor and organizer for coaching retreats, Dow Smith provides much needed support for Smyrna High School athletics as a whole. Never one to seek recognition, his unquestioned dedication to Bulldog athletics has made Dow Smith an integral part of ?

A 1963 graduate of Smyrna High School, Richard Thomas has been an avid contributor to Bulldog success for over seven decades. After wearing the purple and gold as a basketball player, Thomas returned to his alma mater and became the second head baseball coach in program history. Leading the Bulldogs on the diamond from 1972 to 1976, he then transitioned to coaching the top summer feeder program for Smyrna high as he cultivated talent with the Post 16 American Legion team from 1979 through 1984. Serving as the community relations manager at Bridgestone of America for over 31 years, Thomas ensured sponsorship funds were available for a multitude of projects and programs at Smyrna high school during his three decades in that role. A fixture in the stands and behind the scenes, Richard Thomas has contributed to the Purple and Gold in many ways over the years.

A 1985 graduate of Smyrna High School. As a journalist, Danny has covered Bulldogs Athletics since 1994. He has also supported SHS athletics financially through his business, Dr. Automotive, as well as being the founder of the Troy Flippen Foundation in 2020, which raises money for Smyrna athletics. Danny given his time as a volunteer assistant with SHS Swimming since 2000, acting as an official scorer, finish judge, and spearheading various fundraising efforts. He has served as SHS Baseball Booster Club president, and as a summer coach for SHS and the SHS Baseball feeder program.

Became the first African-American baseball coach in Rutherford County in 1986. In 1987, Lyons became the firs coach to lead a Rutherford County baseball team to the state tournament when he guided the Bulldogs to a third-place finish. Before his coaching days at Smyrna the hard-driving Lyons was the first student from Riverdale High School to sign a professional contract (Cincinnati Reds). After Leaving Smyrna, Lyons became the first African-American to be inducted into the Rutherford County baseball hall of fame in 2003. While leading both the Shelbyville High and Smyrna High baseball programs, Lyons earned over 100 wins.

A 1985 graduate of SHS and football player, Shadowens became a volunteer assistant football coach at Smyrna in 1987. After becoming the head Coach in 1994, Shadowens ushered in a new era of Bulldog excellence on the gridiron. Walking the Smyrna sidelines for 14 seasons, " Coach Shad" orchestrated countless helped Smyrna become the first high school to win back to back state football championships in 2006 & 2007. During this time, Coach Shad became the all-time wins leader with 113 career wins.

As dedicated to Smyrna High School football as anyone who as graced these halls, Donnie Carter will always be remembered for this many years of service. Following his days as a Bulldog player (1961-1963), Donnie served as a member of the support staff for the many years. He continued to volunteer for the next 5 decades, walking the sidelines as keeper of Bulldog statistics. Additionally, as father of the area's youth, football program, which he founded in 1969, Donnie Carter created a much-needed feeder system for Smyrna which, in his words, "taught a little about football and a lot about life"

After hanging up his basketball shoes and football cleats as a graduate of SHS in 1968, Johnson has continued to support Smyrna athletics. Through the many positions at Smyrna, primarily as a volunteer, football as been his focus, and having been connected to the program for over 50 years his dedication is unquestioned. However, Johnson, has also contributed, time and effort to the success of Smyrna basketball, swimming, softball, baseball, over the years. In the recognition of his service to the community, Johnson was honored by the town of Smyrna with a 2016 coon victory lifetime achievement award.

Bud Raikes' decorated athletic career that ended in 1956 was followed by a stellar tenure a coach and a mentor to many athletes. Still the all-time leader in wins as the boys' basketball coach, and widely recognized as a football mastermind, for over a decade Raikes's bulldogs struck fear into the hearts of the opposition. After stepping into administration in 1974. Raikes ushered in the modern era of SHS athletics. As principal, Raikes', undying devotion to his alma mater producer many Bulldog legends and many sports enjoyed unrivaled success.

Thie Smyrna native has long stood by his hometown's high school. Watching his two son's graduate in the purple and gold of Smyrna was not enough for this self-made founder of Smyrna Ready Mix. Donating, time, money, and materials, Hollingshead spearheaded renovation for the SHS baseball, softball, football fields along with the swimming pool. For decades he has sponsored many sports and offered a helping hand whenever asked. While he is never one to look for accolades. Smyrna High School would not be what it is today without the dedication and support of caring alumni line Mike Hollingshead.
